Let's go kayaking along the gentle Okutama river while enjoying beautiful scenery and the gorgeous nature!

A short walk on a nice riverside trail to the local sake brewery where we can try and taste some local made sake.

Another leisurely day exploring the great Japanese outdoors!

Trip Itinerary

  • Meet on the train (Car No. 2 of Holiday Rapid Okutama departing at 7:44am from JR Shinjuku station)
  • Catch up on your sleep or chat with other members
  • Meet the rest of the group at Shiromaru station at 9:40am
  • Walk to the Kayak Base Center
  • Get the gear on
  • Safety talk and learn the basic paddling technique
  • River kayaking until 1pm
  • Get on the train for Mitake
  • Walk along a riverside trail to the Sake Brewery
  • Stop for picnic lunch by the river
  • Sake tasting until 4pm
  • Visit the nearby local onsen (optional) or head back to Tokyo

Important Notes

  • Itinerary may vary due to the weather, traffic conditions, and other unavoidable circumstances.
  • You MUST have your own insurance (health, social, company, etc.) to be able to join.
  • The current of the river we will be kayaking on is gentle.
  • Kayaking first-timers and beginners are totally welcome!
  • The trip will proceed on time with or without you so please don't be late. Check your train times beforehand and spare some time as train connections can be complicated.
  • Sake tasting and onsen are optional. You can go back straight to Tokyo after kayaking.
  • Final details will be sent to the participants two days before the event.
