  • An easy and flat trek along Azusa river will reward your eyes with some of Japan's most magnificent mountain scenery. Taisho pond, Tashiro pond, Myojin pond, Takezawa marsh and Azura river are amongst the very beautiful places you will see while trekking.
  • Tsugaike Nature Park

  • A high moor above the clouds that overlooks the Hakuba mountain range. Tsugaike Nature Park, at 1,900m, is one of Japan’s famous high moors* and a Class 1 classified specially preserved area. *High Moor = sphagnum moss sedimentary layer built up over thousands to tens of thousands of years.
  • The Kusa-momiji are in full bloom during this time of the year. The yellow of Erman’s birch, the red rowan trees and the evergreen maries create a vibrant autumn foliage. The crimson maple leaves are wonderfully overwhelming in autumn, too. In addition, the 360-degree panoramic view is stunning from Panorama Way.
  • Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route

  • See Kurobe Dam; Japan's largest arch dam built and completed in 1963. With a height of 186m, it remains the tallest dam in Japan. An observation deck provides a grand view of the great nature of the Northern Alps.
  • Trek around Mikurigaike; a volcanic lake located at an altitude of 2,405m with its surroundings covered in snow until June. Its beautiful deep blue water reflects Mt. Tateyama making it one of the magnificent sights to see. Covering 30,000 square metres and with a circumference of 631m, this is the largest lake in Murodo.
