Trip Itinerary

Saturday (Feb 8)

  • Meet in Shinjuku at 10:30am
  • Get on the bus
  • Chat with other members and get excited
  • Stop for lunch on the way
  • Arrive in Iiyama town around 2:30pm
  • Walk around, explore and enjoy the Iiyama Snow Festival
  • Get on the bus at 6:15pm
  • Arrive at the Kamakura Igloos around 6:30pm
  • See the Kamakura Igloos and watch the fireworks display
  • Get on the bus at 8pm
  • Arrive at the hotel around 9:30pm
  • Relax and enjoy the hotel's big hot bath
  • Group party until you drop

Sunday (Feb 9)

  • Breakfast at 7:30am
  • Get the gear on
  • Ski/snowboarding (8:30am-3pm) or join the Snow Monkey Tour (1pm-4:30)
  • Take a hot shower/bath
  • Change clothes/get ready
  • Get on the bus at 4pm
  • Short stops for food/snacks on the way
  • Arrive back in Shinjuku around 8:45pm

Important notes

  • Itinerary may vary due to the weather, traffic conditions, and other unavoidable circumstances.
  • Lots of food stalls to buy food/snacks from at the Iiyama Snow Festival.
  • Rooms will be allocated to your preference.
  • Minimum of 4 persons per room.
  • Male/Female only rooms are available.
  • Group of (4) friends can have their own room.
  • Private room for 2 persons available for an extra fee on a first-come/first-served basis (limited rooms).
  • The hotel (almost ski-in ski-out) is located near Yakebitaiyama; the best powder snow and ski area in Shiga Kogen.
  • Lunch not provided but available at the ski resort.
  • Please bring enough cash on the trip. Credit cards are not widely accepted here in Japan. International (foreign) cash cards sometimes don't work on ATM's (if any) at the ski resort.
  • There will be an extra fee for ski/snowboard boots JPN size 29.5 and above.
  • Free ski/snowboarding lesson is on Sunday (Feb 9) from 9:30am until 12pm.
  • You don't need a lift pass to join our free ski/snowboarding lessons. However, if you're a fast learner and would want to ride the chairlifts, you can buy a "ride ticket" which costs around 300-350yen per ride. On average, beginners only take the chairlifts 4-5 times the entire weekend. Some beginners, not at all!
  • We will try to accommodate all dietary requirements. However, we are unable to guarantee the hotel/lodge can cater for every meal.
  • Soap, shampoo and rinse are provided in the bath (ofuro).
  • Towels available for rent at the hotel for 200yen.
  • You must check out of your room before 10am on our last day, and put your belongings in the luggage room.
  • Jigokudani Monkey Park is one of the must see and visit tourists spots in Japan.
  • The walk trail to Jigokudani Monkey Park can be wet/snowy/icy/slippery so waterproof (gortex) hiking/trekking shoes are recommended.
  • Food and plastic bags are not allowed in the Jigokudani Monkey Park.
  • Final details will be sent to the participants by email two days before the event.
