Nozawa Onsen is considered by many experienced riders as the best ski resort in Japan in terms of everything (mountain/resort layout, consistency of powder snow and weather, tree runs, backcountry, relaxed ski patrols, accessibility/location, apres ski bars, onsens, traditional town and very friendly locals).

Trip Itinerary

Friday (Mar 9)

  • Meet in Shinjuku at 7:30pm
  • Get on the bus
  • Have some drinks, chat with other members and get excited
  • Short stops for food/snacks on the way
  • Arrive in Nozawa Onsen around 0:30am
  • Check-in at the lodge
  • Go straight to sleep (or Bar Heaven for a drink or two)

Saturday (Mar 10)

  • Breakfast at 7:30am
  • Get the gear on
  • Ski/snowboarding (8:30am-5pm)
  • Take a shower/hot bath or visit one of the FREE public onsens
  • Relax at the lodge/have some drinks
  • Dinner at 6pm
  • Fun apres-ski party at Heaven Bar

Sunday (Mar 11)

  • Breakfast at 7:30am
  • Get the gear on
  • Ski/snowboarding (8:30am-3pm)
  • Take a shower/hot bath or visit one of the FREE public onsens
  • Change clothes/get ready
  • Get on the bus at 4pm
  • Short stops for food/snacks on the way
  • Arrive back in Shinjuku around 8:45pm

Important Notes

  • Itinerary may vary due to the weather, traffic conditions, and other unavoidable circumstances.
  • Ski/snowboarding off-piste is strictly prohibited.
  • You MUST have your own insurance (health, social, company, etc.) to be able join.
  • Please bring enough cash on the trip. Credit cards are not widely accepted here in Japan. International (foreign) cash cards sometimes don't work on ATM's (if any) at the ski resort.
  • Rooms will be allocated to your preference.
  • Minimum of 4 and maximum of 6 persons per room.
  • Male/Female only rooms are available.
  • Group of friends can have their own room.
  • Private room for 2 persons available for an extra fee on a first-come/first-served basis (limited rooms).
  • Our lodge is located just a minute walk to Nagasaka gondola.
  • Lunch not provided but available at the ski resort.
  • Free ski/snowboarding lesson is on Saturday (Mar 10) from 9:30am until 12pm.
  • Lift pass will not be provided if you avail the beginners discount.
  • You don't need a lift pass to join our free ski/snowboarding lessons. However, if you're a fast learner and would want to ride the chairlifts, you can buy a "ride ticket" which costs around 300-350yen per ride. On average, beginners only take the chairlifts 4-5 times the entire weekend. Some beginners, not at all!
  • We will try to accommodate all dietary requirements. However, we are unable to guarantee the hotel/lodge can cater for every meal.
  • Soap, shampoo and rinse are provided in the bath (ofuro).
  • Towels available for rent at the lodge for 200yen.
  • You can send your gear by delivery service (takkyubin) to the hotel. Address will be provided upon request.
  • You must check out of your room before 10am on Sunday (Mar 11), and put your belongings in the luggage room before going ski/snowboarding.
  • Final details will be sent to the participants by email two days before the event.
