Come join us on a fun biking, trekking and snorkeling trip in and around the beautiful island of Oshima; the biggest island amongst the seven islands in the Izu Hanto region!

This trip features:

  • 25km cycling along Oshima's beautiful coast (Reasonable fitness required)
  • 52km cycling around the whole island (Average fitness required)
  • Hamanoyu; Outdoor onsen with a gorgeous ocean view and amazing sunset
  • Island Gojinka Spa; Indoor onsen with a heated swimming pool, place to eat, rest and nap
  • Trekking up Mt. Mihara; an active volcano 764m above sea level, located in the middle of the island
  • Snorkeling in a crystal clear and warm ocean
  • Black sandy beaches

Trip Itinerary

52k biking around a volcanic island

Friday (Sep 22)

  • Meet at Takeshiba Pier at 10pm
  • Orientation/distribution of ferry tickets
  • Get on the ferry at 10:45pm
  • Drink and party on the deck
  • Overnight ferry ride (sleep on comfortable reclining seats)

Saturday (Sep 23)

  • Arrive in Oshima island around 5am
  • Get on the local bus (or bike) to Gojinka Spa
  • Take a short nap
  • Have breakfast at 7:30am (not included)
  • Get the gear on/check the bikes
  • Biking around the island (8:30am-4:30pm)
  • Check-in at the minshuku
  • Enjoy the outdoor onsen and dramatic sunset at Hamanoyu
  • Group dinner at one of the restaurants (not included)
  • Group party until you drop

Sunday (Sep 24)

  • Breakfast at 7:30am (included)
  • Check-out of the minshuku
  • FREE TIME (8:30am-12pm) *Trekking, or snorkeling or just relax on the beach
  • Get on the ferry at 1pm
  • Ferry ride (we'll drink and party on the boat deck)
  • Arrive back in Tokyo around 5:40pm

Important Notes

Mt. Mihara Trekking
  • Itinerary may vary due to the weather, traffic conditions, and other unavoidable circumstances.
  • You MUST have your own insurance (health, social, company, etc.) to be able join.
  • Reasonable fitness required.
  • Takeshiba pier is 10 minutes on foot from JR Hamamatsucho or Daimon station on the Oedo line and a minute from Takeshiba station on the Yurikamome line.
  • Ferry seats upgrade possible, just let us know upon booking.
  • Minimum of 4 and maximum of 8 persons per room.
  • Male/Female only rooms are available.
  • Group of friends can have their own room.
  • You need a proper bike bag to bring your own bike.
  • Bike helmet is a MUST!
  • Most of the roads we will be on are paved rather than dirt tracks.
  • We'll stop for breaks at any interesting diversions so don't forget to wear your swimsuit under your clothes, always ready to strip off when we spot one of the gorgeous black sand beaches along the coast.
  • 25km course is just biking along the beautiful coast with some short hills here and there.
  • 52km course is biking around the whole island and include short hills here and there plus a 6km long challenging hill and a rewarding 10 minute downhill. Lots of fun!
  • Swimsuit is required in the outdoor onsen.
  • You can go scuba diving or snorkeling and/or just hangout on the beach if you are not up for biking and trekking.
  • Vegetarians will be accommodated!
  • Final details will be sent to the participants by email two days before the event.
