Kouzushima offers many exciting activities that the other islands don't, including mountain hiking with unique breathtaking 360° panoramic views, warm and crystal clear ocean waters to snorkel, swim, CLIFF and PLATFORM dive into, onsens, camping ON the beach with beautiful ocean views and dramatic sunsets, beach volleyball, beach parties, and so much more.

Trip Itinerary

Friday (JUL 15)

  • Meet at Takeshiba pier at 9:30pm
  • Orientation, distribution of ferry tickets and camping supplies
  • Get on the ferry at 10:30pm
  • Drink, party and sleep on the deck floor (Bunk bed upgrade available on a first-come/first-served)
  • Overnight ferry ride

Saturday (jul 16)

  • Arrive in Kouzushima island around 9am
  • Get on the private bus to the campsite
  • Have fun setting-up the tents on the beach
  • Relax/swim in the ocean
  • Take the local shuttle bus (200yen) or walk (20mins) to Akazaki Promenade
  • Bridge/platform diving/jumping, snorkeling and swimming until 4pm
  • Outdoor onsen just 10mins walk from the campsite (optional)
  • Dinner at 6pm
  • Bonfire party on the beach

Sunday (Jul 17)

  • Breakfast at 7am
  • FREE TIME (9am-5pm)
  • Dinner at 6pm
  • Bonfire party on the beach
  • Stay overnight camping

Monday (Jul 18)

  • Breakfast at 7am
  • Pack up the tents
  • Put all the bags/camping supplies in the service van
  • Get on the bus to the pier
  • Get on the ferry at 9:15am
  • Ferry ride
  • Arrive back in Tokyo around 5:45pm

Trip notes

  • Itinerary may vary due to the weather, traffic conditions, and other unavoidable circumstances.
  • You MUST have your own insurance (health, social, company, etc.) to be able join.
  • Takeshiba pier is 10 minutes on foot from JR Hamamatsucho or Daimon station on the Oedo line and a minute from Takeshiba station on the Yurikamome line.
  • Ferry seats upgrade possible, just let us know upon booking.
  • The roads in Kouzushima are very hilly and not recommended for biking unless you are bringing a mountain bike and you have strong biking legs.
  • Proper bike bag is required if you are bringing your own bicycle (the freight fee is 500yen with a bike bag, 1,500yen without a bike bag each way).
  • Maximum of 3 persons for shared rental tent.
  • There are restaurants and supermarkets on the island.
  • Vegetarians will be accommodated.
  • Lunch for Monday (Jul 18) available on the ferry.
  • Final details will be sent to the participants by email two days before the event.

Outdoor activities

    Bridge/platform jumping/diving

  • There are designated spots to do it along the Akazaki Promenade walking path. This is one of the highlights of the trip!
  • Snorkeling

  • A great spot right down the Akazaki Promenade walking path. One of the best snorkeling spots in Japan! Snokeling kit is not available for rental so bring your own.
  • White sand beach

  • Relax, swim, sleep, play frisbee or volleyball on Maehama and Nagahama beach.
  • Beach side camping

  • Beautiful ocean view and dramatic sunset, well maintained, good facilities, cold shower, Western/Japanese style toilet available.
  • Hiking

  • A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED hike up to the summit of Mt. Tenjo with 360° breath-taking panoramic view. It will take around 2.5hrs up and down, another extra 2-3hrs if you do the loop.
  • Walking/sightseeing

  • Walk along the Akazaki Promenade while enjoying the breathtaking coastline views. See Buttooshi-iwa, a gorgeous rock formation along Nagahama beach.
  • Onsen

  • A nice outdoor onsen with ocean view, mixed, swimsuit required, separate indoor baths, open until 9pm, just an 8min walk from the campsite. Admission is 800yen.
