Whitewater Rafting and [Optional] Hiking Trip

Break the summer heat!!! Go rafting along the cool and beautiful Tamagawa river with some cliff/rock jumps and slides here and there.

Optional hiking up Mt. Iwatakeishi in the morning to breathe some fresh air and make the most out of the day.

Another day enjoying the Japanese outdoors!

Trip Itinerary

Whitewater Rafting Trip

  • Meet at Mitake station at 12:40pm
  • Meet the rest of the group
  • Short walk to the Rafting Base Center
  • Get the gear on
  • Safety talk and learn the basic paddling technique
  • Rafting (1:30pm-4)
  • Relax/have some coffe or beers at Rafting club base deck
  • Check out the local onsen or head back to Tokyo

Hiking Trip (Optional)

  • Meet on the train (Car No. 2 of Holiday Rapid Okutama departing at 6:46am from JR Shinjuku station)
  • Catch up on your sleep or chat with other members
  • Arrive at Mitake station at 8:06am
  • Meet the rest of the people joining the hiking trip
  • Orientation/safety briefing
  • Start the hike at 8:30am
  • Reach the peak of Mt. Sougaku (756m) around 10:15am
  • Reach the peak of Mt. Iwatakeishi (793m) around 11am
  • Enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery (without any trees blocking your view)
  • Short picnic lunch
  • Hike back down to Mitake station
  • Finish the hike around 12:30pm
  • Meet the rest of the group for some rafting adventure

Important Notes

  • Itinerary may vary due to the weather, and other unavoidable circumstances.
  • You MUST have your own insurance (health, social, company, etc.) to be able to join.
  • Rafting first-timers and beginners are totally welcome!
  • All rafting gear and equipment are provided.
  • The hike is easy level and can be done under 3.5 hours (up and down).
  • Please prepare/buy picnic lunch and drinks the night before if you're joining the hike.
  • The trip will proceed on time with or without you so please don't be late. Check your train times beforehand and spare some time as train connections can be complicated.
  • Final details will be sent to the participants two days before the event.
