This Trip Features;

  • Jigokudani Monkey Park → Home to the wild but cute Japanese snow monkeys enjoying the hot spring.
  • Kamakura Igloos → Beautiful and romantic fairytale-like scene at Iiyama Snow Hut Village. Fireworks display over the Kamakura Igloos is amazing to watch and see.
  • Hida Takayama Old Town → Beautifully preserved old buildings and streets of houses dating back from the Edo Period when the city thrived as a wealthy town of merchants.
  • Hida Folk Village → Open air museum exhibiting over 30 traditional houses built during the Edo Period including some 'Gassho-Zukuri' farmhouses.
  • Shirakawago → Traditional houses with thatched and steep roofs called 'Gassho-Zukuri' and it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Magical to see when the whole place is covered in snow.

Trip Itinerary

Saturday (Feb 13)

  • Meet in Shinjuku at 9:30am
  • Get on the bus
  • Catch up on your sleep or chat with other participants and get excited
  • Shorts stops for food/snacks on the way
  • Arrive at Jigokudani Monkey Park parking lot around 2pm
  • 30mins walk/trek to Jigokudani Monkey Park
  • Enjoy the onsening snow monkeys until 3:30pm
  • 30mins walk/trek back to the parking lot
  • Grab some food/snacks at Enzo Cafe on the way
  • Get on the bus at 4:45pm
  • Arrive at the Kamakura Igloos around 5:30pm
  • Walk around and take a lot of photos of the Kamakura Igloos
  • Have dinner (not provided/at own preference)
  • Watch the fireworks display at 7pm
  • Get on the bus at 7:30pm
  • Short rest stop on the way
  • Arrive in Takayama around 11pm
  • Check-in at the hotel

Sunday (Feb 14)

  • Buffet breakfast at 7:30am
  • Wander around the Hida Takayama old town
  • Get on the bus at 9:45am
  • Arrive at Hida Folk Village around 10am
  • Explore the open air museum
  • Get on the bus at 11am
  • Arrive in Ogimachi Village around 12pm
  • Enjoy the magical view of the famous and traditional Gassho Zukuri Farmhouses covered in snow
  • Have dinner (not provided/at own preference)
  • Get on the bus at 3pm
  • Short stops for food/snacks on the way
  • Arrive back in Shinjuku around 9:30pm

Important notes

  • Itinerary may vary due to the weather, traffic conditions, and other unavoidable circumstances.
  • Rooms will be allocated to your preference.
  • Minimum of 3 and maximum of 4 persons per room.
  • Male/Female only rooms are available.
  • Group of 3 or 4 friends can have their own room.
  • Private room for 2 persons (twin or double) available for an extra fee on a first-come/first-served basis.
  • You can leave your belongings in the bus during the walks/treks. All you need is a small backpack, winter clothes, snacks, drinks, camera, smartphone and cash.
  • There are food stalls to buy food from at the Iiyama Snow Hut Village.
  • Breakfast at the hotel is buffet style.
  • The walk trail to Jigokudani Monkey Park can be wet/snowy/icy/slippery so waterproof (gortex) hiking/trekking shoes are recommended.
  • Food and plastic bags are not allowed in the Jigokudani Monkey Park.
  • This trip involves a long bus jorney so make sure to bring a book, videos, battery back, neck pillow, etc..
  • Final details will be sent to the participants by email two days before the event.
