SENJOJIKI CIRQUE AND KATSUNUMA GRAPE FESTIVAL TRIP

Experience the breathtaking Senjojiki Cirque and it’s spectacular surrounding mountain scenery covered in gorgeous autumn colors! Be whisked away in just 7-1/2 minutes to another world high above it all!

A short stop at Katsunuma Grape Festical to enjoy some local wine and grapes, and watch the festival’s fire and fireworks show. Come for the wine, stay for the fire!

This Trip Features;
  • Senjojiki Cirque – lies just under Mt. Hōken of Kiso Mountains in Nagano. ‘Senjōjiki’ (or ‘Senjōjiki Kaaru’ in Japanese) means the wideness of 1,000 tatami mats.
  • Senjojiki Cirque Walk Trail – you can easily walk around the cirque in just under 45mins passing Kengaike (Kenga pond) and some seasonal flowers. You will have lots of time taking pictures of the beautiful autumn leaves and enjoying the breathtaking mountain scenery.
  • Mt. Kiso Komagatake – is the tallest peak of the Central Japan Alps at 2,956m. You can hike up and reach the peak of this mountain in just under two (2) hours. Proper hiking gear a MUST!
  • Komagatake Ropeway – is built atop the Senjojiki Cirque directly below Mt. Hokendake. The ropeway features Japan’s largest elevation gain (from 1,662m to 2,612m – 950 meters) and terminal station (@2,612 meters).
  • Komakusa-no-yu Hot Spring – located near the bus parking, you can relax and enjoy hot spring after an adventurous day in the mountains.
  • Katsunuma Grape Festival – a short stop in Katsunuma (the wine capital of Japan) to enjoy some local wine and grapes, and watch the festival’s fire and fireworks show.

  • Meet the group in Shinjuku at 7am
  • Get on the TG private bus
  • Catch up on your sleep
  • Short stop for breakfast on the way
  • Arrive at Suganodai Bus Center around 10:15am
  • Transfer to Chuo Alps mountain bus
  • Arrive at Shibidaira ropeway station around 11am
  • Get on the Komagatake ropeway
  • Enjoy the spectacular 7-1/2 minutes ropeway ride
  • Arrive at Senjojiki ropeway station around 11:15am
  • Hike up Mt. Kiso Komagatake (at your own risk) or walk around Senjojiki Cirque walk trail
  • Ride the ropeway/mountain bus back down Suganodai Bus Center
  • Relax in the onsen (optional and only if you have time)
  • Get on the TG private bus at 4:15pm
  • Short stop at one of Katsunuma’s wine cellar to buy/enjoy some local wine
  • Arrive at Katsunuma Chuo Park (festival venue) around 6:30pm
  • Watch the fire and fireworks show
  • Get on the bus at 7:30pm
  • Arrive back in Shinjuku around 9pm

  • Reasonable fitness required.
  • You can walk around and follow the Senjojiki Walk Trail (about 45 mins) if you don’t like hiking.
  • Hiking experience and proper clothes and gear are required to hike up Mt. Kiso Komagatake (at your own risk).
  • It takes about 2 hours to hike up to the summit and just more than an hour to hike down (about 3-1/2 hours up and down).
  • You can enjoy the onsen located near the bus parking if you’re not planning to hike.
  • There are plenty of food stalls at the festival to get food from.
