Ginzan Onsen, Zao Onsen Snow Monsters and Ski/Snowboarding Trip

This Trip Features;
  • ¥6,600 off the tour fee if you can provide documents (using the Nationwide Travel Support link) that you’re a a Japan resident and have received three (or more) doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Explore Ginzan Onsen; one of Japan’s most beautiful and enchanting onsen towns, nestled among the scenic Yamagata mountains.
  • Visit Yamadera; a scenic temple located in the mountains northeast of Yamagata. The temple grounds extend high up a steep mountainside, from where there are great views down onto the valley.
  • Ski/snowboarding around and within the famous Zao Onsen Snow Monsters (optional)
  • Snow Monsters Night Illumination (optional)
  • Fireworks display and ski/snowboarding exhibition (optional and may subject to COVID-19 restrictions)
  • Free beginners ski/snowboarding lesson
  • 7:30pm Friday (Feb 3) departure to make the most out of your weekend

* Feb 3 (Fri)
  • Meet the group in Shinjuku at 7:20pm
  • Get on the bus
  • Short stops for food/snacks on the way
  • Arrive at Yamagata Grand Hotel around 1am
  • Check-in your room
  • Go straight to sleep
* Feb 4 (Sat)
  • Breakfast at 9am
  • Get on the bus at 10am
  • Arrive at Yamadera Temple around 10:30am
  • Walk around and hike up Godaido Hall’s viewing platform (optional) and see great views from down onto the valley
  • Get on the bus at 12pm
  • Arrive at Ginza Onsen around 1:45pm
  • FREE TIME (lunch/onsen/early dinner/night photo) until 5:15pm
  • Get on the bus at 5:20pm
  • Arrive at Zao Onsen Zanroku Ropeway around 6:50pm
  • See the Snow Monsters light-up ‘OR’ watch the fireworks display and ski/snowboarding exhibition ‘OR’ visit one of the local bars.
  • Get on the bus at 9pm
  • Arrive back at the hotel around 9:30pm
  • Visit one of the the local bars/izakayas/restaurants in the area or go to bed
* Feb 5 (Sun)
  • Breakfast at 7:30am
  • Get the gear on
  • Check-out of your room
  • Get on the bus at 8:15am
  • Arrive at Zao Onsen Zanroku Ropeway around 8:45am
  • Ski/snowboarding in and around the snow monsters or just go to the top by ropeway for some sightseeing until 1pm
  • Visit one of the local onsens
  • Get ready/pack your stuff
  • Get on the bus at 3pm
  • Short stops for food/snacks on the way
  • Arrive back in Shinjuku around 8:45pm

  • Itinerary may vary due to the weather, traffic conditions, COVID-19 restrictions and other unavoidable circumstances.
  • Rooms are mostly triple bed ‘shared’.
  • Group of (3) friends can have their own room.
  • Male/Female only rooms are available. You will be automatically assigned in one of those rooms based on your gender if joining alone.
  • Twin/double and single rooms available for an extra fee on a first-come/first-served basis (limited rooms).
  • Breakfast is buffet style.
  • Lunch and dinner not provided.
  • You can see the Snow Monsters illuminated with colorful lights on Saturday night for an extra fee (sightseeing not night ski/snowboarding).
  • There are also a fireworks display and ski/snowboarding exhibition you can watch on Saturday night if you don’t like to join the Snow Monsters light-up.
  • Free ski/snowboarding lesson is on Sunday (Feb 5) from 9:30am until 12pm.
  • You don’t need a lift pass to join our free ski/snowboarding lessons. However, if you’re a fast learner and would want to ride the chairlifts, you can buy a “ride ticket” which costs around 300-350yen per ride. On average, beginners only take the chairlifts 4-5 times the entire weekend. Some beginners, not at all!
  • You can send your gear by delivery service (takkyubin) to the hotel. Address will be provided upon request.
  • You must check out of your room on Sunday (Feb 5), and put all your belongings in the bus. We are not coming back to the hotel.
  • You can buy a 4 hour pass directly at the ticket counter if you’re planning to ski/snowboard on the Sunday.
  • You can also buy a round-trip ropeway/cable car tickets to see the Snow Monsters during the day.
  • Final details will be sent to the participants by email two days before the event.
